    Kant, Moral Imagination, and the Pathologies of Reason.Randall E. Auxiere & Laura J. Mueller - 2023 - Studia Philosophica Wratislaviensia 17 (4):5-27.
We argue that the relationship between Kant’s theory of imagination and his moral philosophy has not been well understood. Missing is an adequate connection between his idea of sensus communis and the power of imagination to exceed the senses. This connection is close and important, and it has serious implications for how we are to apply and further theorize moral relations among human beings. Especially important in this regard is the ability among humans, in their social setting, to imagine other (...)

    Real Deletion, Time, and Possibility.Randall Auxier - 2023 - Analiza I Egzystencja 62:5-41.
A Response to Our Theatre Critics.J. A. Hobson & K. J. Friston - 2016 - Journal of Consciousness Studies 23 (3-4):245-254.
We would like to thank Dolega and Dewhurst for a thought-provoking and informed deconstruction of our article, which we take as applause from valued members of our audience. In brief, we fully concur with the theatre-free formulation offered by Dolega and Dewhurst and take the opportunity to explain why we used the Cartesian theatre metaphor. We do this by drawing an analogy between consciousness and evolution. This analogy is used to emphasize the circular causality inherent in the free energy principle. (...)

    The Script and text of Ibn Quzmān’s Dīwān: some giveaway secrets.J. A. Abu-Haidar - 1998 - Al-Qantara 19 (2):273-314.

In this essay I show that texts by early Caribbean women writers, such as the Wonderful Adventures of Mrs. Seacole in Many Lands, reveal and resist the effects of colonial paradigms by leaving textual traces of how such paradigms can effectively be countered and overturned. I arrive at such a reading of Seacole via an analysis of Frantz Fanon's reading of Mayotte Capécia's turn-of-the-century novel, Je suis martiniquaise, in light of advances in postcolonial and feminist theory. I argue that doing (...)

Central Themes in Early Modern Philosophy: Essays Presented to Jonathan Bennett.Mark Kulstad, J. A. Cover & Jonathan Francis Bennett - 1990 - Hackett Publishing.
"Central Themes in Early Modern Philosophy is a selection of some of the best work being done in early modern philosophy by Anglo-American philosophers today.... The essays in this collection are historically informed and philosophically challenging. The book is a fitting tribute to Jonathan Bennett." -- Daniel Garber, University of Chicago.

Influences on Freud's Mourning and Melancholia and its contextual validity.David J. A. Dozois - 2000 - Journal of Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology 20 (2):167-195.
This article critically evaluates S. Freud's Mourning and Melancholia and challenges both the celebratory and reactionary views that treat this essay as an ahistorical and decontextualized "foundation-stone" of depression. Although many biographies have been written on Freud, the possible influences on his thinking in the area grief and depression have not been examined. Moreover, no reviews have investigated Freud's understanding of mourning and melancholia from the perspective of his own experiences with these difficulties. Following a brief overview of Freud's seminal (...)

Disrupting journalism ethics: radical change on the frontier of digital media.Stephen J. A. Ward - 2019 - New York: Routledge.
Disrupting Journalism Ethics sets out to disrupt and change how we think about journalism and its ethics. The book contends that long-established ways of thinking, which have come down to us from the history of journalism, need radical conceptual reform, with alternate conceptions of the role of journalism and fresh principles to evaluate practice. Through a series of disruptions, the book undermines the traditional principles of journalistic neutrality and "just the facts" reporting. It proposes an alternate philosophy of journalism as (...)
